Well, I just used my first cake.
There was a little lava trap in a cave: no lava anywhere else REMOTELY nearby, and 2 blocks down so I can't get out. Actually it seemed suspiciously similar to another time I fell in lava (and died), and there are torches around that are from when I explored from a different entrance, so yeah, this particular lava patch might have been going for 2-and-0.
BUT! This time I had the presence of mind to spam my heal items and use my water bucket. Take that lava! And then I had just one heart left and I had a cake on me so I used it all up.
I know you all may have stories like that and thus won't care about mine, but hopefully you also understand the impulse to share them.
