Its a shame that a lot of people ignore the music in games. It characterizes each game and gives it style, for example, all megaman games had a specific style and followed by megaman x, a heavy metal style soundtrack. Each time i think of a game, I always remeber its music first! If i liked its music of course :P.
Also another franchise with great music is Command & Conquer. Tiberian Sun's soundtrack really sets you in the mood of the game.
Also, boss music themes are the most important! If they are not bad ass or scary then the boss battle loses a lot of its value!
