Actually before I got a Wii and became a video game addict (who doesn't play a lot of video games at least compare to others) I ask the same question and got this answer:
"Usually during the first year of a console, developers aren't familiar with it and will generally release ports. Only during the last years of the console will you really see system-pushing games. You just have to be patience."
That answer satisfied me. So just take that.
