300 looked really, really good, and I don't mind the fairly obvious political subtext, but it still didn't resonate with me. Leonidas and his wife felt like the only real characters, with the rest a bunch of generic bad-asses. I didn't feel anything when they died, only when Leonidas died.

There really wasn't much of a plot, just a collection of set-pieces. It really did remind me of a video-games - first you fight the immortals, then a freaky looking obese man, then a rhino...and then you die. Okay, not entirely like most video-games. Obviousy that owes a lot to the source material and isn't really the film-makers' fault, but they could have gotten around it woith strong characters. I thought Dawn of the Dead did fairly well there, so this was a surprise.

There are no creatures in the graphic novel that did not exist in reality, and the role of the queen is limited to a few brief words on a single page.

Hates Nomura.
