Yeah, it's pretty cold in North Texas too. We're on our third ice day (work asked up to come in if roads near us weren't bad) and it's going to snow/ice again tonight.
Usually, when it ices in Texas (happens once or twice a year) the temperature will stay in the upper 20's to low 30's for a day and then go to the upper 30's to low 40's so that ice is pretty much gone the next day. Starting Monday night, we haven't really gotten higher than the mid to low 20's and it has been pretty consistently in the teens so the ice has stuck around. That's really weird even for Texas weather and has totally disrupted everything. Now of course it's going to start snowing and icing again tomorrow just when the roads are almost getting driveable.
The worst thing about ice in Texas is drivers are just freaking stupid. Driving in the ice isn't hard, you just drive slow, pay attention, and have patience. I had to go to the grocery store Tuesday afternoon when it was the worst since I really didn't have any food in my home and I was completely reminded why Texas sucks when there's ice. There were people driving 50MPH on the completely iced over roads passing people and sliding all over the place. It just completely amazes me how stupid people can be.
Yesterday I look out my window at my street and I see some moron in an SUV trying to drive down the completely iced over street and utterly failing. He had his gas petal floored with tires completely spinning and going nowhere. I'm just plain astonished he didn't slide and hit a car parked on the street or slide into someone's yard.
So yeah, damn cold here too (19F) and going to be shitty tomorrow too. At least I got out of the house today. If anything, this should make the Superbowl in Dallas interesting.
