All people see is the listing price, they are usually ignorant to how much it will cost them in the long run and don't even bother checking

They certainly do check the list price and the ongoing costs. People pay what something is worth to them I.E. bottled water rather than what it costs I.E tap water. Americans are overly familiar with finance, finance leases and straight leases, if anything they would be less ignorant about such things than many other places in the world.

tap water is better flitered then bottle water, people will pay something if they think it's worth it they don't check to see if it is and the list price is the only thing people check, if you have a lower listing price you will sell more even if the other guy costs more in the long run
