On topic. Yes, I do think taking justice in your own hands can be appropriate.

Sometimes, I imagine what I would do to someone if that person did or tried to do something horrible to someone I love. I wouldn't hestitate a second to take justice in my own hands. Especially if I were that kid's father.

I agree with your post. FTR, I think people should only take justice into their pwn hands when the law proves to be incompetent (like in the case of my first post).
