Funny thing is, Mario won by 55k the week before. It's plummeting as the red Wii bundle dries up. This race isn't over just yet and it wouldn't even be close if it weren't for that bundle. Wonder how long it'll take for Black Ops to pass them both. |
Oh, it definitely isn't. New Super Mario Bros. Wii is far likely to sell more than MW2, but there's still a slight chance of MW2 selling more in the end.
It would still be relatively close even if it wasn't for the bundle, though.
The Red Wii was effective from mid-November through December, right? In that period, NSMB Wii sold roughly 3.8 million. If there was no bundle, it might have sold Mario Kart Wii levels. Mario Kart Wii sold 2.4 million.
In other words, we're not looking at a huge boost from the red Wii bundle. Sure, over a million, but it would still be quite close even if it wasn't for the red Wii. New Super Mario Bros. Wii would still stand quite a chance of outselling MW2 in the long run.
And all things considered, I wouldn't bet on Black Ops (Ps3 X360) finishing above New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
