| TheSource said: With the new Final Fantasy coming for the holidays for PS3 in Japan you'll probably see Nintendo try to counter with something substantial as we saw in 2009. Ideally, that game would be Dragon Quest X but I don't think Square-Enix will do that, although it would be an enormous quarter for them domestically if they could pull it off somehow. It'd be amusing if it was NSMB Wii 2 against the second real FF for PS3. Supposedly Wii still has Inazuma Eleven, Zelda, Dragon Quest X, a Hal-Kirby game, Rhythm Heaven, Pikmin 3, Earth Seeker in addition to the games mentioned above. If DQX isn't 2011 then you have to figure Rhythm Heaven / Zelda are the holiday games with the rest as filler. Last Story in Jan / Earth Seeker for April / Inazuma Eleven for Golden Week / Kirby for Obon with various other small games or a price cut as filler. I really wouldn't rule out a big core sequel though - NSMB Wii / DKC Returns 2 - popping up out of nowhere to fill in a slow period. A new Mario Party or Wii Party or Wii Relax could do well. Actually, the Michael Jackson game from Ubisoft is supposedly coming to Japan - that could be a good filler game. With the success of Epic Mickey, Disney might be pushing for the next Kingdom Hearts console game to be on Wii as well. Epic Mickey is going to do 2-3m at least on Wii - thats enough to justify it I think. As PSP / DS collapse from PSP2 / 3DS I think a fair amount of PSP / 3DS could be ported to Wii as well, and there is the possibility of PSP2 and PS3 giving each other ports too. All in all, I figure Wii and PS3 will both be right around 1.5m with Wii slightly ahead again on price cuts. |
PS3 has games too. Even better, they are actually confirmed.
Catherine, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, Dynasty Warriors 7, Disgaea 4, Samurai Warriors 3Z, Ni no Kuni, the new Yakuza should all have some kind of impact on PS3 sales.
