Technically, no. But I have to get physical with aggressive patrons sometimes at work, it happens every other month or so (a lot more often it other places I've worked) so after 7 years I've been in a whole lot of physical confrontations.
You learn tricks here and there to subdue and overpower drunk people, the real problem is with those high on amphetamines or similar drugs that feel no pain and are virtually unstoppable. Of course, it should also be mentioned that I stand 6'5" and weigh in at around 290 pounds and I have some training in BJJ as well as some basic Krav Maga and Sambo moves. If all else fails, apply strength, being a powerlifter also helps!
Its different for me though, in a normal one on-one fight you want to take your opponent down by any means necessary, but when I'm wearing my uniform and card I have to consider legal consequences and possible damage as well as the image of the bar/club. Overpowering is the name of the game, get them to the ground and gain control of one or more limbs or the head and force them to submit. We rarely use handcuffs though, only when they refuse to calm down and need public transport by way of the police.
