Then he's being an fool, which is not a good idea considering his job. It's been mentioned that Nintendo needs to set a reasonable market price and not rely on cut after cut. The Wii had one cut, and it's still in the lead.

How is he being a fool? Perhaps what he is saying is that Nintendo needs to set a higher price and then continue to add value and iterate on their platform over time, say with better 3D cameras, better screens etc to improve the 3DS' appeal to the wider audiences than to set a middling price which doesn't afford them the same margins to do just that. Pachter is a big Apple fanboy so hes probably thinking 'what would Apple do?' in this instance.

That's still being a fool, since he's applying fanboyism to business advice.
