As much as I loved the first Crysis, I don't think Crysis 2 can get even close. It seems to be much more linear, and suit features have been 'streamlined' (simplified) too much. That's pretty much two of the most important features potentially ruined.
As for Rage, I'm not all confident it'll be totally awesome either but at least it should be good. id has yet to fail me, and Rage seems their most interesting project in a while (even literally). Besides, I even prefer Rage's environments over Crysis 2's, both gameplay and art-wise.
