I loved the game in its entirety. Storyline was frankly absent, but the gameplay truly made up for it, and it ended up being an enjoyable badass of an rpg. I'm hoping for a sequel.

It was more than there, actually. You can meet most of the characters mentioned in the intro, and experience the ravages of the fog yourself. The atmosphere tells a better story than any script does.

That's the point. It doesn't tell you the story at all. Just gives you an intro and leaves you to discover the story for yourself through exploring each world and speaking with NPCs. Which I honestly feel is a great way to look at role-playing.

Spot on. That is one of the amazing things with Demon's Souls, how the atmosphere tells the story and engulfs you. It's just, wow!
