3DS could save Wii!

The Nintendo Wii does not need a savior. Fact, the system has sold about 84 million according to this site, which is a massive amount of  consoles made and sold and Nintendo made a huge profit off of it. Even if no more Wii systems were made, I would not be surprise if Nintendo came out as the winner of this generation in terms of sales. And while sales are declining, that's because the vast majority of people who wants a Wii already has one, so it's natural to assume that it's going to get to the point where demands for the Wii gets low. If anyone needs a savior, it's Sony themselves, who have struggled a lot to get where they are this generation and to even get the PlayStation 3 to compete in sales with the Xbox 360. Sales-wise, there is nothing to be concerned about for the Wii.

        That being said, I do agree that the Wii absolutely needs more quality games made for the system this year. Late 2006-2010, we have seen what has been a mostly consistent amount of high quality games that anyone can enjoy, which is why the Nintendo Wii is IMO, a very good system. 2011, only four titles that will surely be in North America that is coming out this year I show interest in, which compared to the PS3 line-up this year (Not sure about the Xbox 360, don't follow Xbox 360 news actively) and previous years for the Wii, is just sad. Localization of Japanese-only games is needed this gen if we can even hope for a bearable 2011 year for the console.

        That is why the successor needs to be announced at E3 2011 and released in Holiday, 2012. And considering that the Nintendo Wii is considered the weakest console in terms of hardware, handling of multiplatform games, and online (I think it's decent, but nowhere near as good as PSN or XBL), massive popularity or not, this is a pretty reasonable prediction, not to mention if Nintendo wants to match the success of the Wii, they can't just sit around and see what their competitors announce, they have to be the first out of the gate for the next generation, and then massively improve in all three areas that they tend to be most harshly criticized for this generation.
