Wii/3DS multiplatform games make a lot of sense in theory, but it's not going to happen, because third parties still want the Wii to die. The only examples for multiplatform releases you can come up with are the very same developers/publishers who already released Wii and DS games simultaneously, so they aren't doing anything new. And the only reason why they put effort in making such games is because they either can't afford to develop for other platforms (Prope) or know just too well that they wouldn't sell on those other platforms (Sega). Despite an easy and inexpensive porting process, you won't see SSF IV, Dead or Alive, Ridge Racer, Resident Evil etc. on the Wii. Simply said: Those studios who used to actually support the Wii in the past will use the Wii/3DS multiplatform opportunity and those who didn't won't. |
You are probubly right. But I think THQ and other publishers who ported titles from PSP to PS2 will likely do the same or similiar with 3DS. Also don't forget their are alot of publishers who brought games to both DS and Wii, Activision, EAGames, Disney Interactive, Sega and many more. At launch companies may not be releasing many multiplatform titles but they probubly will in the future.
As for the link to the Sonic title going multiplatform, it was in the Live feed on IGN from the NewYork Event. Right near the top. But I went on IGN to retrieve it and can't locate it anymore
