@DMeisterJ - no, both Xbox and Playstation had games that were CALLED Baldur's Gate, but really had little to do with the PC game other than location. If anything what you played was like a non customizable version of Never Winter Nights.

@Tifa - The modifiations for Baldur's Gate were huge. Someone had basically developed a program that was capable of appending data to the files in the override folder, rather than only being able to replace them. This meant that as long as people made their changes carefully, one mod could overlap with another mod, rather than the user having to decide between the two of them.
A lot of the mods added new characters, new dialog, new kits for different classes, and new encounters, some changed rules, made encounters harder, or essentially created an entirely new game.
One of my favorite mods for Baldur's Gate 2 was the Hell's Trials mod, which fleshed out the ending encounter so you had a Good choice, an Evil choice, but also a 3rd choice in addition to that. When you completed these trials, normally, the game would change your alignment to Neutral Evil, but the Hells trials mod allows you to make a gradual shift based on your original alignment, and the number of good, neutral and evil acts you make. you can actually go from evil alignment to good alignment if you stick completely to good acts, instead of only being able to drop to Neutral Evil.
