PSN is a fundamental part of the PS3.

The PS3 is now wide open to hackers.

Hackers can/will eventually annoy the hell out of PSN users by hacking games and potientially even accounts.

If this happens to a /- large extent, then PSN will not be a pleasant/safe experience for its user base anymore.

When this happens, Sony might just release another console sooner and abandon this one. With the master key out, there is nothing except major hardware revisions that can stop hackers from doing whatever they want with the system.

I'd argue that the PS3 is much more centered around the single player aspect of games then say the 360. Where XBL is one of the huge draws of the console. They can take the steps that MS has taken to keep cheaters and hackers off of it

Except that hackers can theoretically unban themselves. They _do_ have complete control over the system, remember.

Therefore, without some kind of key-based system, you can guess what's going to happen.
