And yet, all the people I know with Macs/Ipods have often got REALLY OLD versions. They bought them new back in the day. Hell I even know of someone who has a G4 Macbook from 2003 or thenabouts. Apple is also really good at supporting older hardware in comparison to other competitors. They only just dropped the iPhone 2G from support and how old is that again? Whereas with many competitor products the companies have dropped support for their new devices sometimes as little as 6 months down the track with users having no easy way to update to the latest version.

Yeah, there is a very healthy used market as well. Apple seem to hold their prices much better than the competition.

In most cases the reason is the hardware is typically better built and better supported. Often you could argue that a used iPhone 4 would be better than the majority of the competitors to the iPhone 5. The reason is that Apple only really uses cutting edge technology when and where it benefits the end user,s so the iPhone 4 screen and camera are good examples. They also use their technology better given an iPhone 4 is still the most responsive phone I have ever laid fingers on, it beats by WP7 and that beats any Android I have tried. I only got a WP7 because I liked the interface a little better and because I have shaky fingers due to needing beta blockers.

Tease.
