About Nintendo unlikely to produce 4M a month: obvious (it would be a whopping 48M/yr), but it's as much obvious that they stockpiled for the launch more than the average production for that period's lenght, just as any producer stockpiles for Xmas during the slowest selling parts of the previous seasons.
So, if Ninty wants, it can stockpile >8M for launch, if it starts in time, the only problem could be that, just in case it wished to break a record, it maybe didn't predict the size of Kinect launch success, so it could have not stockpiled enough and now it would be too late.
