Scenario 1 or 2, but not due to Kinect failure or lukewarm longer term welcome, for another reason: I don't see MS pushing 360 after 720 release as much as Sony did with PS2 after releasing PS3. Also because Kinect depends on console's processing power to fully deliver its potential, a powerful XB720 will allow more players and reduced lag on Kinect (and most probably also higher resolution versions, that would be too expensive now and unmanageable by 360), making appealing for most new MS market fans to drop the old console as soon as the new one becomes affordable.
