You just argued the opposite of what you were trying to. People discount PC when talking Xbox vs PS3 exclusives because most people prefer to game on their couch, not in front of the computer. Most people don't have a PC setup on their TV for gaming. In the vast majority of cases the console version of the game is the one that is pushed by the developers and is where the bulk of sales are. The PC versions cater to a different demographic. Similarly people discount the Move "enabled" games because the controller version is the one that was focused on, developed for and pushed by the developers. Move is included as more as a bonus and the games weren't built around that control scheme. So it's really the same thing, most discount PC when discussing exclusives because most people will be playing on the console, and we're discount Move when talking games like Killzone 3 because most people will be playing on the controller. So thanks for proving our point! |
No, people discount PC because it's not on PS3 (or Wii), hence the term "console exclusive".
Love to know where you have the sales data (including digital downloads which virtually no-one tracks) to state "most" people play on the console version.
OT: I know it's a bit cliched, but this is IGN we're talking about. Like most video game "journalists", they don't really deserve that term.
