That's because people keep modding games designed for use with controllers to play on Kinect.

Hybrid games? You mean games that have extra content designed for Kinect? Hence, content actually designed for use with Kinect.

You said the best hacks for Kinect require a controller. Maybe you aren't taking into consideration a game like Indigo Prophecy was designed for use with a controller. All they did with Kinect is have gestures emulate pressing buttons. Its a worthless mod that doesn't make great use of Kinect at all.

In Deca Sports for Kinect they actually have an FPS paintball game. You move by stepping around. For example if I step forward the character moves forward and doesn't stop until I step back in place. Now if the modder applied something like that to this Indigo Prophecy mod, that would replace the need of the joystick.

Another method I saw in Deca Sports, the snowboarding game allows you to move by leaning left and right. You speed up by leaning forward and slow down by leaning back. The Kinect can actually determine how you're moving your upper body like the movement of a joystick. That's another way he could control movement and replace the need of a joystick.
