There were bundles in every region for GT5. Gamestop, Amazon, Best Buy and a couple other retailers in the U.S. had bundles for like 2 weeks and once those were gone, that was it. GT5 still sold very well. I'm impressed. My lifetime was 7-8 million overall. It may surpass that. It won't reach GT3 or GT4 sales though. If the game was better it might have had a chance.

It's already at 5.06 million, so 7-8 mill is a given, but 10mill is where it's not guaranteed yet (though I see it reaching that just fine). Reviews also didn't really have the impact many said they would (even though again, it's just five points behind GT4 and the reviews were hardly bad to begin with).
I agree that it won't catch GT4 (11 mill) nor GT5 (14.9mill), but I'm confident it'll reach 10 mill (which is what most people think it would do anyway - which is a fantastic result. That would put it ahead of GT2 and on par with the original GT.
