Just as i wrote 2 days ago the wii beat the 360 in December , that was obvious and by a big margin i might add . The shortages excuse is bullshit esp. with the way Greenberg presents it. Judging by online stores there was a slight shortage in the beginning of December but the 360 has been in great supply (kinect bundles included) everywhere since around the middle of December . The shortages excuse becomes even sillier for Jan/February .

It's no shame to loose to the wii which costs just a bit over the kinect sensor alone (amazon is selling the wii wii sports/wii sports resort for 179$) .  MS should either be more agressive with its 360 pricing (a 100$ drop in over 5 years for the "regular" xbox360 models and everything kinect-related is extremely expensive on top of that) or accept second place in the holiday season and just move on .

Edit: I'd like to add that hardware makers should stop using the shortages excuse when the consoles have been on the market so many years (that goes to both MS and sony last year) . It's inexcusable for a console to face shortages after its first year on the market. At least MS managed to execute the kinect launch great with plenty of supply (as evident by their 8 million kinects shipped) .
