Ugh, MS should really know how to judge demand by now, shortages is not a good enough excuse.

No offense to you, but I think microsoft themselves didn't see this high of a demand seece. Don't you remember them thinking kinect would only sell 3 million?
|
So they say? Maybe cynical of me but I think they realised 3 mill was too low.
They were banking on Kinect being the next big thing (could well be by looks of things) so should have estimated better.

Not saying they didn't low balled in predictions, but lets just assume they were like 3 million low end, and 5 million high end. This still shatters them...and I honestly believe they thought they wouldn't do higher than 5 million. I know I don't like kinect, so maybe that is why I didn't see it doing 7 million , but honestly speaking if you told me that it would do above 5 million in that time, I would have called you a fanboy.

Well, true enough I didn't see it doing above 5 mill either, hindsight is a wonderful thing I guess! Still though I maintain they should know what they're doing, they have a better clue at what it's going to sell than you and I, with all their "market research"

don't forget,...the slim launch did fantastic too, much better than i think MS origninally expected. tack on the fact that manufacturing larger volumes of consoles isn't a quick, easy, or cheap process and it's pretty understandable to me the MS didn't get it perfect. i mean, even with the tight supply the 360 was up like 40% (i think..) over last holiday with is a huge increase.
