I really don't care for achievements/trophies. It doesn't add anything to the gameplay. I am glad Nintendo hasn't followed suit in this. Eventually they probably will with either next home console system or a system in future. It isn't a big deal and it isn't going to make or break a sell to their consumer. No one is going to walk in to the store to pick up a 3DS and then realize it doesn't have achievements and not buy the system because of that. Nintendo hasn't dropped the ball on this.
Perhaps in future they can make the whole achievement system better. Such as earn enough achievement points with Nintendo 1st party games and you get free stuff (aka Nintendo Club). That would be better than some stupid trophy.
