Can the 3DS overcome the Ridge Racer curse? - UPDATE: How about the PSV?

Indeed it did. And with no Tekken game to counter it. Now we just need to work out what saved that system from the Ridge Racer curse and see if the 3DS has anything comparable to cure its d0medness.

Ridge Racer DS wasn't released at all in Japan and it wasn't a launch title in Europe, so that only leaves America. This means that RR DS doesn't completely fit the criteria laid out in the original post, but it's worth noting that the DS took a long time to take off in America, much longer than in any other region.

This is scary.

What ultimately saved the DS is that the PSP suffered from the Ridge Racer curse as well (in all regions, not just America).

It makes perfect sense.
