Probably because they don't have them. Sony fans didn't care much about achievements... until the PS3 got trophies. If Nintendo instituted "stickers" or somesuch, they'd be a huge deal.

I agree with twesterm. The 3DS was the perfect opportunity to introduce not only an achievement system, but a revamped and more robust online in general. Seems like a big missed opportunity.

To be fair, Nintendo's been pretty silent on the 3DS' online in general. I don't think there's yet been a solid confirmation of whether or not friend codes are coming back, even. Might be something they'll emphasize more in the Western pre-launch shindig (the 19th), or not
