I'm sorry I didn't clarify my earlier statement regarding 'stupid 3rd party developers'. Here is a list of the Wii's greatest offenders: EA Take2 Interactive Namco-Bandai Ubisoft Capcom

I think Capcom's been pretty good honestly.  In fact I'd say they've really only made two glaring mistakes with Wii (which is better than most 3rd parties)...

  • 1. Not following up RE4 with an original (full) Resident Evil for Wii, probably should've been able to have one ready as early late 2008.  There's an easy 2-3m seller they missed out on, instead they did a sequel to Umbrella Chronicles that went on to sell only 600k due to the oversaturated (and increasingly hostile) rail shooter genre on Wii.
  • 2. Not releasing SF4 on Wii.  The whole campaign around SF4 was rooted in nostalgia, the game was even designed specifically to appeal to SF2 fans... and yet they didn't port the game to the system that also has the strongest retro gamer audience, that itself revels in nostalgia.  A Wii version of SF4 would've easily cleared a million worldwide and probably then some, instead they did a Versus fighter based on Tatsunoko licenses that sold less than half that.
...all in all though, I do think the good far outweighed the bad with Capcom on Wii.  If anything, I'd say the system Capcom *really* missed the boat on this gen was DS...

I think Capcom, like everyone else, really bought into the idea of HD-Wii, that gamers would buy an HD console for their main gaming system, and then a Wii for those odd quicky games; so companies put their best on the HD side, while the Wii got 2nd string games, including remakes/ports (like Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition) and spin-offs (like Umbrella Chronicles).  When RE4Wii and REUC both sold well, they thought it vindicated their approach, which is why they followed up with more remakes and Darkside Chronicles; instead, it looks like people bought RE4Wii because it was still THE DEFINITIVE Resident Evil game at the time, and UC was just cashing in.
