No, actually that's not true at all. It depends entirely on the engines used by your TV and their efficiency.
You must have a poor LCD TV (LCD amplifies the jagged edges).
Sorry to disappoint you, but on my HDTV, the Wii graphics are no jagged edges heaven.
You thought your case was the norm, but it's not.
For the rest, I agree with HappySqurriel (shouldn't that be HappySquirrel ?).
