| Aiddon said: the series needs a SERIOUS kick in the ass. Someone has to do something with the series that is a radical departure that puts the franchise in a new direction. VII did that 13 years ago with going for a more steampunkish, technological bent as opposed to the high fantasy settings of the NES/SNES era. However, with XIV causing Square to bleed cash I get the troubling feeling that they're going to play it safe unless they do something drastic that won't be TOO expensive like make XV for the 3DS or something since DQ IX was a smash hit on the DS |
Final Fantasy VI (on the SNES) was the first to adopt a steam-punk theme and the concept of technology into the game. FFVII added a cyberpunk world and wowed the world due to its FMVs, bizzare cyberpunk science, amazing presentation and dark tone/story.
