They claimed to profit first in June, mind you. To get a 100$ price cut, they'd need to cut down manufacturing costs by $100 in a little over a year at most. Shaving off 33% manufacturing costs in such a short time at this point is nearly impossible. Even with the software releasing, I'm sure Sony doesn't want to get into the red again, even it is just hardware.
Besides, if they try to get into a price cut war, Nintendo will devour them whole. I'm sure they don't want that.
