Wait they are saying: "we shipped MORE than 8 million, but pretty much all of them have been sold thru" and you come up with a 5 million figure? Sounds way too low for pretty much all of them have been sold through. 7.5 million would be an educated guess IMO.
8.1 maybe even 8.4 million shipped so about 600 - 900k in stores sounds very reasonable.
I say VGC undertracked Kinect by 2 million worldwide. It is currently at 5.42 million, which is way too low, but they have one week of data missing.

I was just putting the range it could be. I have no thoughts on what i think the sales are. Just saw the info in another thread and thought it relevant here.
