Don't think so. I'm afraid even big titles like "The Last Story" and "Dragon Quest X" will underperform, similar to "Monster Hunter 3". MH3's sales probably were quite a shocker to the industry.

The second reason is that 3rd parties are probably expecting a Wii successor within a year, so there's no more time left to start any big projects that aren't already far in development.

3rd parties lack the IPs and gameplay quality of Nintendo, so they are dependent on eye candy, and on the Wii there's no way to visually impress buyers like on the HD consoles.

My 2 cents.

That is a rather overrated belief.

The best-selling games by Nintendo hardly have a great gameplay. I'm thinking of games like Wii Party, Wii Play, Wii Music, Wii Sports or Mario Party 8.

I think Wii Sports and Wii Play (at least Tanks) do have great gameplay, especially with friends. Those games represent what games are all about IMO, or what they should be about.

Wii Music, Wii Party, and Mario Party 8 I will give you. The early Mario Party games were far superior for whatever reason. The first couple Mario Parties were two of the best N64 games. You would think the motion controls would make Mario Party more fun but that was far from the case..

Wii Music is not a game so much as a musical toy. But this also wasn't exactly a "best seller" and for good reason.

Wii Party is kinda fun, but many of its games are mindless and seem to be based mostly or entirely on luck.

Anyway, these games are meant to be played with multiple players for the most part, and it makes them far more fun, even the not so good games that I mentioned.
