Porting games to PSP doesn't pay the bills. PSP games don't sell out side of Japan and only few franchises sell on PSP in Japan. How doesn't porting a title to a portable console, with a smaller userbase, and horrid software sales outside of Japan good business?

Initially, third parties thought the PSP would be really successful, taking the handheld crown away from Nintendo; once the DS got it's bearings and PSP game sales faltered, third parties started to drift away from it, focusing more on consoles.

There seemed to be a spike in PSP titles in late 2009, coinciding with the PSP Go.  If that had been successful, it would've meant a much better environment for game developers as being download only meant they wouldn't have production costs, retail mark-up or used game sales to deal with.  That didn't happen.

Now, support for the PSP has largely dried up.
