I would find it sad, actually. Not because DKCR doesn't deserve all it's sales, but because it shows how poor in comparison the Metroid Prime series sell. I loved all DKC titles, but I would take any Metroid Prime over DKC any day. Metroid deserves so much more and Nintendo isn't giving as much appraisal as it deserves.Metroid is my 3rd most loved Nintendo series - after Mario and Zelda of course.

I'd say Nintendo has invested quite heavily in Metroid as a franchise this generation... especially if you include the DS games and the trilogy special edition...

It's just they are yet to find a formula that truly "works" for metroid, in the sense that it gives the series mass-market appeal. Knowing Nintendo though, they are not one to easily give up on what they think is a good idea.

I believe we will eventually see a new Metroid that takes the series in new directions, while not abandoning what has worked for the primes, the 2d games, and yes even Other M. Hopefully sooner rather than later. And yes, firing Sakamoto for Other M is about as silly as firing Yokoi over the virtual boy was back then... I don't think anyone here agrees with that move. Lets give the man the benefit of the doubt - he was well aware of the "experimental" nature of the game he was making,  he is completely capable of making a different kind of Metroid game as well. Not that I'd mind having more games like Other M, but that's up to Nintendo to decide.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!
