Hardly. For me, Mass Effect was a bit of a mess the first time I tried to play it (playing on the 360), but the story and the characters made me start over on easy. Plus the motion blur was so basic I turned it off to gain some performance (I have no idea if it makes a difference or not, but whatever.
). But playing through it on easy was a great experience.
The technical issues weren't all that bad, and I don't care much for customising my squad, so I didn't bother much with the inventory. The game lost most of its challenge, but all my frustrations went away with it, and I could just enjoy the story and the universe, which is where the game truly shines anyway. All the dialogue, the characters, the backstory, all of that is amazing in Mass Effect.
So amazing in fact that I just bought the ME2 special edition, and I will be powering through it this weekend when I can dedicate myself to it completely.
