I agree with you in that I think that the Xbox 360 is more mainstream. Those who are more hardcore (not rabid fanboyism) are more "in tune" with what they are hardcore with. Therefore, I think the PS3 appeals to more hardcore gamers so those gamers are staying more informed with gaming, being that the interwebs are a plethora of gaming info. So being on the interwebs more to stay informed exposes them to more of these polls you speak of. My theory.
