Yeah, and look how little it's changed over the years. Each sequel is usually just a heavy reskin of the previous. There's little reason to add major changes and additions when people will eat up pretty much anything that has the CoD name on it. And if your name isn't Halo, releasing any other shooter close to a CoD release date is suicide. The shooter/fps genre on consoles is doing somewhat poorly. |
Hmmm, I'm having a tough time with the validity to your final statement there. Medal of Honor has 11 weeks tracked at the moment, and has a combined 3.77 million sales. This game should have no trouble reaching 4.5-5 million lifetime sales between the HD consoles.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has 4.73 million sales so far in 42 weeks. This game should have no trouble reaching 5.5 million lifetime sales between the HD consoles.
Killzone 2 has 2.52 million sales so far in 96 weeks.
Resistance has 3.72 million sales (I believe it was bundled a bit at times?).
Resistance 2 has 2.06 million sales.
Left 4 Dead has 2.96 million sales.
Left 4 Dead 2 has 3.10 million sales.
Let's see, Tom Clancy games have very good sales...jeesh, the more I look at it, the more I am noticing that the fps genre has some very impressive numbers from a lot of games, outside of just Halo and Call of Duty.
Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.
