Not even five minutes. I was wondering who how long it would take before someone tried to defend the lack of quality in the fps market with its high sales. 

I really do fail to understand where the lack of quality argument comes from.  Do people really think fps' this generation are that much worse than the ones from last generation?  I'm assuming you are basing quality solely on past games from the same genre, obviously, as that is how you should do it with video games, unless it is a new genre.

Yes thats exactly what I'm basing them on- and they fail miserably while getting praised for doing things that were done in the genre 5, 10 and sometimes 15 years ago. 

Ok, I can understand where if you are looking at quality solely of the campaign, you may see them as a little worse, as I thought the PS2 medal of honor game campaigns were pretty much the sweetest things ever.  But its not like they are terrible games...gaming has evolved to online in regards to fps, and that is the aspect that a lot of the high selling games shine in.  Even though some may disagree with me, Call of Duty games do have pretty sweet online...it is all about taste though, and I can totally see how somebody may even see the online as dismal.

You realize I'm not comparing them to console shooters right? 

Well, I figured you were at least figuring them in, as they should be figured in when it comes to calculating quality of new console shooters.  I'm also just going to mention now...I wasn't aware that PC shooters had things 15 years ago that games now are being praised for, could you please go a little further on what you mean by that?

Online modes- player control- things of that nature. Consoles still lag behind tremendously. Linear hallway shooting with boring enemies. Etc.
