Oh petitions, these always work!
Just get an HD console, there's a large library of great games you're missing out on.
I wanted some Mario so I got a Wii. No signing petitions necessary!

As if it would be that hard to make Soul Calibur V for the Wii, especially after Soul Calibur IV got ported to the PSP. Not sure why you bring in a first party game to prove your point, but I guess it's because you don't have much of a point.
The thing is, if a game goes multiplatform (not unrealistic for a third party game), then people can save the $200-300 they would have to spend on a new console.

Because I was ashamed to admit a big reason I wanted Wii for was NMH1 and 2. Horrible games they were.
Did I imply its impossible to port Soul Calibur V to the Wii? Is that relevant? No.
They could put any Wii games on a HD console. But instead of signing petitions I bought a god damn Wii.
Also, if you only own a Wii... then you should come to terms with you're going to miss out on a lot of great HD games.

If such games are to your taste, anyway. In my case, it's an extraordinarily short list of titles on either platform that i genuinely want. Soul Calibur IV is one of them, but not enough to merit the purchase.

But you dabble in plenty of mediocre Wii games. Eh... I won't even try to make sense of it.

Not really. Only game i wasn't genuinely pleased with in recent memory was Crystal Bearers. Some games i could have gotten better variations of elsewhere (rather than using The Conduit to get my FPS fix, for instance), but such genres are low enough on my priority list that it's insignificant. Most of what appears on the PS3 or 360 has little appeal to me: third-person shooters, first person shooters, WRPGs, realistic racers, traditional fighters (except Soul Calibur).
Demons Souls and White Knight Chronicles i'd probably like, come to think of it, but not enough for the extra time investment
