I could be wrong but I suspect Nintendo will be giving 18 to 24 months notice to major third party publishers before they release their next home console; which means if they were planning on a 2012 release they've probably already began announcing it to publishers (assuming a July to December release), and if they were aiming for a 2013 release they would be making that decision in the very near future. In other words, they don't have the luxury to "wait and see" how 2011 goes to decide whether to release in 2012 or 2013.
