| Boutros said: Pokémon won't beat Monster Hunter so easily. It surely will but not from that much. Pokémon will reach something like 5.5 - 6 million I think (I don't see how it could outsell Diamond/Pearl). Monster Hunter will do something like 5 million I think. |
By the end of its first holiday season, after 15 weeks, Diamond/Pearl had sold 4.67 million. After Black/White's first holiday season, 16 weeks, it looks so have sold a bit over 5 million, possibly 5.1 million.
From that point and out, Diamond/Pearl sold roughly 1.3 million. I don't really see any way Black/White could sell less than 2/3rds of that, so I'd put 6 million as a low-end number for Diamond/Pearl, rather than the high-end.
Monster Hunter should do quite well too, though. 2nd G sold 1.3 million in year 2 and out (week 41 and out). I don't see how 3rd could do any less than that (from week 7 and out). As it's likely to see around 4 million or so by the end of the year, I'd say that 5 million is the low-end for Monster Hunter too.
I'd say Monster Hunter at 5-5.5 million and Black/White at 6-6.5 seems fairer.
Which puts Black & White as the 4th or 5th best selling game of all time in Japan, and Monster Hunter at 7th.
It also means that Monster Hunter has every chance of becoming the best selling PsP game with western sales.
