Well, I meant to say more. She hated it so much she won't talk about the game, even academically, and literally pretends it never existed.

My brother and I have similarly shunted it out of our personal canons, but we still acknowledge that it was there.

I've pretty much done the same.  It is such a radical change that it is easier to view as some non-canon side story.

Canon concerns for this one at least are minimal. Other M couldn't effect the future of the Metroid franchise, unless there's a direct sequel (highly unlikely at this point)
