OP: You seem to have a very black and white view on this subject, even juxtaposing drinking with murder and use of heavy drugs. I agree that people drink too much, working as a bouncer in the weekends, I have to deal with this all the time and my country is notorious for its bad drinking habits (mostly due to making it taboo and trying to make it unavailable (which only increases the amount of moonshine and weed, regionally). I do not see people who drink as losers though, most of our guests are out to have a good time and behave properly and don't get really drunk.
They're having a laugh and aren't really hurting anyone (except their livers) and drinking isn't really more damaging than the eating habits of most people. I don't drink a lot myself and I don't like being very drunk. I can sit down and enjoy a beer without getting piss drunk or behaving like a monkey and most people are able to do that very thing.
When I grew up, I didn't go to a lot of parties, mostly because I didn't like the people there, not because they were drinking and I would rather spend my time playing games and goofing around with my friends instead of partying. I do drink sometimes though, does that make a bad person? I see myself as a good-hearted guy who can have fun without alcohol and I would rather not be judged for picking up a beer every now and then. I'm having a beer shortly, I'll try not to stoop down into stone age levels and start raging and murdering and going all bananas with no self control...
Top tip for you; attend parties with people who aren't teenagers wanting to screw around and puke and start fights, there are lighter versions where people simply enjoy a brandy to their coffee or a beer or glass of wine with their food (or, indeed, in the food itself, like in sauces) and things are a whole lot more nuanced than the image depicted in the OP.
