It lacks a fleshed out story that grips you from the start and leaves you in awe until the very end. Also the game's graphics can not compare to titles such as Uncharted 2 or Killzone 3, not to mention lacks the giant sense of scale found in titles such as God of War 3, leaving much to be desired.
The title was also riding a giant hype train which raised our expectations higher than the stratosphere and had a dev time of over 2 years, which in turn hurts the score. Also worth mentioning is that the title was made by Media Molecule, a dev team formerly located above a toilet shop.

Haha, no time machine here, just going with the flow. You know, the one where games get docked points based on development time now?
In LBP2's defense though MM hasn't been hailing it as perfection or anything, they have been pretty quiet overall. I think they should get bonus points just for that if you get docked points for praising.

Only time you get bonus points these days is if you are a FPS or a yearly release.
