Your first one? Ever? Hmmm...
Well, you're going to be missing a lot of the nostalgic charm that long term Zelda players know and love. Some of the sound effects are going to seem very dated but we smile a little when we hear them.
On the other hand, you're also going to be freed from the ridiculous standards that the other games set for this one. That is going to be very liberating, as the impossible to top LttP or OoT memories are very, VERY strong (OoT was my favorite game ever for the longest).
The graphics will disappoint a lot if you're used to a lot of HD games now. Artistically sound for sure (less so than WW though), but its a last gen game through and through. Most disappointing to me is the sound. You're going to wonder why nobody talks and why the music quality sounds so antiquated (I played about a month after Kameo; you can imagine how that went over for me). Some nice compositions (you'll come to love Princess Zelda's classic melody and also melt over the best track of the game) for sure though, limited mostly by the lack of real instruments or good approximations.
The game is long. Took me about 55 hours and I certainly didn't turn it out completely. For an action rpg, that's a bit long and it felt that way for me. But if you like creative physics and equipment based puzzles, you're in for a rare treat. Zelda's dungeons are without peer.
Lastly, the ending. It's great. I want to say more but that would be so very cruel.
From your comments, it sounds like you'll be in gaming bliss with this. For the record, I played the GC version.
