Nintendo doesn't drop the market price because retailers would not equally reduce their sticker price.  The games still sell to well.  Why should Nintendo reduce their prodfit if the retailer isn't going to reduce the price accordingly and instead would take up all the profit (they do that with used games already).

 

It's also why the Wii and DS don't really get price drops.  Nintendo could cut their market price but the retailers would keep it at the same high level.
