it's not just a colour change, it's completely different. If you watch a gameplay video of the two, you'll see the difference. The kill-bill style blood fountains really fit the game

 

didn't they say it was originally black anyway, thats hwo they wanted it. However they changed it to red kill bill like just to make it more appealing to the US audience.
