In real life, I am crap at tennis: I have a weak swing, poor coordination and get tired easily. In Wii-al life, I can play tennis quite competently with my feet.
Seriously though, proper gamers love it for games like Zelda, SMG and Metroid. The muppets that make up the lion's share of all console sales like it because when they wave their arms about, things move on screen. Wii Sports is the new Pong.

I hope you do realize that swinging a remote is light years ahead of pushing a button as far as realism goes. It may not be perfect "real life controls", but it's far and above the other options available. Anyone that wants to complain about the industry shifting to more realism is going to get left behind. The focus of the gaming industry is going to be on alternative types of inputs from this generation forward.
